.

Thursday August 15th between 4 and 7pm, 4th Floor Retail & Barbershop

American style and craftsmanship will be on display as we are featuring Edwin Denim and Redwing Shoe Company. Although the is a salute to Americana, Edwin Denim is a heritage denim company in Japan that was inspired by America’s iconic style and fashion contribution, “the blue jean”. We are pairing them with one of the last American shoe manufacturers, Red Wing. To keep the theme going we are doing a tasting of whiskies from both Kentucky and Japan, Fraser & Thompson Whiskey and Nikka Whisky (notice the missing "e") plus craft beer from Baltimore's own Guilford Brewery. This will be your opportunity to feel and sample while having the opportunity to take advantage of day only deals.

The Brands

Edwin

Established in Tokyo, Japan, in 1947, the EDWIN brand has always been known for its authenticity, innovation and craftsmanship.

In 1961, inspired by a growing demand, EDWIN (whose company name comes from a creative rearrangement of the letters found in the word "denim") debuted the first made-in-Japan jeans.

By the 1970s, EDWIN had established itself as a pioneer in denim manufacturing, experimenting with wash techniques in the EDWIN Wash House that impacted denim wash processes around the globe. Innovations included ONE WASH, a prewash process to eliminate shrinkage prior to purchase, and OLD WASH, a precursor to stone wash that reproduces faded colors through careful abrasion techniques for a lived-in denim look

Today, EDWIN continues to set the gold standard in denim production, priding itself on the use of exclusive imported and organic fabrics, revolutionary production technologies, state-of-the-art finishing and advancements in design and fit.

The relaunch of EDWIN USA stays true to the roots of EDWIN in quality, fit and innovation in washes. Honoring its heritage while adopting the same pioneering spirit to propel denim manufacturing into new frontiers, EDWIN combines thoughtfully designed jeans and innovation in sustainable manufacturing methods.

Red Wing Shoes

Red Wing Shoe Company is a family-owned business that was founded in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1905. Since its inception, the milestones have been many, including: The debut of the Gloria, our original women’s boot, in 1926, the creation of the 877 Moc Toe in 1952, and the acquisition of S.B. Foot Tanning Company in 1987. Red Wing Heritage continues to build on this historic legacy with lifestyle footwear that is crafted with pride and purpose.

Fraser & Thompson

Wait till you hear this story. Whiskey aficianado, Michael Buble partnered with Paul Cirka, a longtime friend and award-winning master distiller. Michael details their relationship in the following quote.

"It took over three years, but with his expertise and knowledge, we developed an incredible whiskey. Paul owns the Cirka Distilleries in Montreal, so he knows his whiskey. There's no one else I would have wanted to work with on this project. When Fraser & Thompson becomes the biggest whiskey in the world, which I fully intend, it'll be thanks to Paul and his blending expertise. For F&T, he created a blend of whiskeys from various grains, ages, and barrel types sourced from three different distilleries. The final product is a blend of Canadian Whiskey and Kentucky Bourbon, blended and bottled by Heaven Hill in Bardstown, KY under Paul's guidance."

Nikka Distillery

In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky.

Given the chance to go to Scotland, Masataka became the first Japanese ever to master how to make whisky. He enrolled at the University of Glasgow, took chemistry courses and then apprenticed at three Scotch distilleries. The young and passionate man was fortunate to learn first-hand from craftsmen and have practical trainings to master blending. The two notebooks filled with every detail later became Japan’s very first guide in whisky production.
